Ground beef recipes: Making the Lasagna
Prepare all your ingredients and begin the cooking process. Heat a small amount of oil in a saucepan put garlic then onion. Wait for them to give out a good aroma before adding the sausage and ground beef. Adjust the fire to medium heat and brown all ingredients. Stir in tomato paste, giving it a quick stir before adding crushed tomatoes then the tomato sauce after. Bring it to simmering temperature before adding water. Season with basil, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, a dash of sugar and fennel seeds before simmering again. Simmer for about one hour or more stirring regularly until thick or in good consistency.
To cook the pasta, use a large pot with water and place salt to give flavour to the pasta. Bring to boil before adding the lasagna noodles for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente. Drain pasta with cold running water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, put together the cheese, egg and parsley and half a teaspoon of salt. Mix thoroughly until smooth and every ingredients is well incorporated.
Preheat oven to a temperature of 375°F or 190 °C.
Spread a layer of the meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish then arrange the noodles on top. For the next layer, use the cheese mixture again topped with cheese slices. Pour a generous amount of meat sauce over the cheese before sprinkling with parmesan. Keep on repeating the layers until satisfied and top with all the cheese left. Cover with foil sprayed with oil without touching the cheese. Bake for 25 minutes.
