I love to have my Fat Free Banana Ice Cream as an after-dinner treat when my taste buds are calling for something sweet.
Most of us satisfy our sweet tooth with refined sugar products, which we all know is super unhealthy, but it’s actually quite natural for us to crave sweet foods. It’s a taste that the human palate was designed to enjoy.
The good news is that we can reach for sweets as often as we like, AS LONG AS THEY’RE HEALTHY!
Easy to make dessert recipes that are also good for you are a specialty of mine. In fact, they’re SO GOOD for you, that you can have them for breakfast. I do!
Or my 3-Minute Banana Pudding:
Fat Free Banana Ice Cream Ingredients :
You will need:
- 5 frozen bananas*
Serves 1 – 2
Simply peel the bananas and pop them in your freezer before you go to bed at night. When you wake up, they’ll be ready for you.
Are your bananas ripe? They’re ripe when they have plenty of brown spots. They should look this:
Eating fruit only when it’s ripe is super important for us healthy eaters because only then are the flavors and the vitamins “unlocked.” Remember: eating unripe fruit = indigestion + gas + bland flavor!
Unripe bananas taste and smell starchy, have little flavor and are hard to peel. Ripe bananas smell and taste sweet and they peel easily.
- Take your bananas out of the freezer 30 minutes before you’re ready, in order to soften them up a bit.
- Put them in your high-speed blender or food processor and blend until very smooth. You don’t have to add water (if you do, add no more than 1/4 cup!).
- Spoon into a bowl or mug and enjoy!
If you want to easy to make dessert recipes and other delicioushealthy recipes like my fruit smoothies, salad dressings and sauces a part of your everyday diet, then you’re going to want to invest in a REAL BLENDER!!!
I cannot more highly recommend the Vita-mix blender. It’s an investment of money, but I can honestly say it’s worth every penny. Finally giving up those cheap blenders and getting a Vita-mix professional blender was, for me, like getting out of a twenty year old pickup truck and sliding behind the wheel of a BMW! One of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
