Your going to get so much out of this smoothie. Not only is it nutrient dense, but the flavours from the two superfoods complement each other. Lets take a closer look at them.
The first superfood is cacao – raw chocolate. This is a fantastic superfood for numerous reasons. Firstly its chocolate… enough said. Moreover, it is also a great source of vitamin C, iron and magnesium. It also contains numerous chemicals (which I won’t go into detail about) that carry the “feel good” factor with them too. By adding cacao into your drink, your going to be drinking a delicious healthy smoothie.
The next superfood is spirulina. This is a protein packed superfood (around 60-70% of it is protein.) This means that you can drink this smoothie as a post workout drink. It is also rich in vitamin K and iron.
However, if you only use these two superfoods in your smoothie, then it will taste aweful. You need to also add some fruity sweeteners to your drink (like strawberries.) Read more about this below.

Chocolate Strawberry Spirulina Smoothie Recipe
- 1 cup milk (raw milk, almond, hemp, coconut)
- 1 fresh or frozen banana
- 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
- 1/2 tablespoon cacao powder
- 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon spirulina
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- A little honey, stevia, or maple syrup to sweeten (optional)
- 1 cup spinach, kale, or other leafy green
- 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 serving protein powder or green superfood powder
- 1 tablespoon maca, goji berries, bee pollen, aloe, hemp, or any other superfood you have on hand
Put all of the above ingredients into a blender and mix for around 30 seconds. When you have reached your desired consistency, stop blending and you’ll have your chocolate strawberry spirulina smoothie.
