Chocolate Almond Butter Smoothie Recipe

This smoothie is very similar to one of my latest posts that explained how to make a chocolate strawberry spirulina smoothie . However, in this smoothie recipe, were going to learn how to make a delicious chocolate almond butter smoothie.



I always have this smoothie before and after a workout. This is because it contains lots of healthy protein
and only takes around 4 minutes to create. After you come back from the gym, the last thing you wan’t to do is spend ages making a smoothie! On top of all this, this smoothie is really tasty meaning I actually look forward to drinking it when I get home (as oppose to those sickly protein shakes.)

The duality of chocolate and almonds make a delicious combination. If your not a fan of almonds, then you can use peanut butter instead – a less healthy alternative but it does the job. Overall, this is a very healthy smoothie – here is why:

At the core of this smoothie is the almonds – these are obviously really good for you. Why? Well firstly they contain loads of protein. A cup of almonds has 8 grams of protein. The also are packed full of vitamin E and manganese as well as magnesium. These all help with energy productions.

There are other benefits, such as the monounsaturated (try getting your mouth around that one) fats reducing the risk of heart disease and lower LDL cholesterol. Some people even think that almonds should be considered a superfood!

Of course, all the benefits that I have just mentioned are specifically for increasing the amount of protein in your diet. This chocolate almond butter smoothie however, is also really nice to drink as a dessert or something to have as a mid-day snack.

Chocolate Almond Butter Smoothie Recipe

The Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond milk (could use chocolate almond milk)
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • 1/2 fresh or frozen medium banana
  • 1 serving chocolate protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon flax, chia, or hemp seeds
  • A little honey, maple syrup, or stevia to sweeten (optional)

The Add-ons

  • 1/2 tablespoon cacao nibs or cacao powder
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup spinach (go green)
  • 1/2 tablespoon maca

Show Time

Throw all of the above ingredients into your blender and mix for around 45 seconds. Serve and enjoy!
