Dare to dream and dare to try this delicious blueberry chocolate smoothie. This is a fabulous smoothie that not only tastes nice, but is really easy to make!
So what makes this smoothie so special? Well firstly it contains chocolate. Whilst chocolate isn’t the best food for you, this smoothie recipe only has a small amount of chocolate and therefore isn’t that bad at all! In fact, this smoothie is very nutritious. The combination of chocolate an blueberries ensure that you get plenty of energy to keep you moving throughout the day.
People often shy away from chocolate in their smoothies but you needn’t fear. Chocolate actually has loads of nutritional benefits such as containing vitamin C and magnesium which benefits the heart, teeth and brain. On top of that, this smoothie contains healthy fat, lots of protein and is low in sugar – the perfect combination!
Indeed, this smoothie also has many antioxidants due to the blueberries and superfoods. These antioxidants offer ample benefits such as boosting your immune system and increasing your energy to make you feel happier.
Now, I do need to mention that this smoothie is high in calories. Therefore if you are trying to lose weight, then drinking this smoothie is not recommended (unless your doing lots of exercise on that day.) If your looking to reduce the number of calories in this smoothie then try the following things. Firstly, get rid of the Brazil nuts and possibly the protein powder. Also use water instead of milk. If your counting callories then you should try a smoothie like this. Why? Because it will fill you up and make you eat less during your next meal (hence you consume less calories.)
Of course, there are lots of different ingredients listed below and please don’t feel like you have to use them all. Just use what you have and this will still be an amazingly delicious smoothie!
Blueberry Chocolate Smoothie Recipe
Only add the ingredients you have, please don’t feel like you need everything listed below!
- 1 cup almond milk (substitute your preferred milk)
- 1/2 cup yogurt (preferably whole milk or full fat)
- 1/2 small avocado
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 3 Brazil nuts
- 1 tablespoon cacao powder
- 1 teaspoon cacao nibs
- 1 teaspoon maca
- 1 teaspoon lucuma
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 drops vanilla extract
- 1 serving of your preferred protein powder
- 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds or chia seed gel
- Anything else you like and/or have on hand
Throw all of the ingredients into the blender and properly mix until you have a smooth paste. This is usually after 30-45 seconds of blending depending on the power of your blender.
